Bison 48" x 72" Tall Unbreakable "XL" Glass Competition Conversion Backboard

The integrated support structure absorbs more than 98% of the force from rim contact, preventing stress from transferring to the glass. With the goal mounted independently from the backboard, even excessive hanging or aggressive play will not compromise the glass, reducing injury risk and eliminating concerns about breakage. Each “XL” unbreakable backboard includes a polished aluminum extrusion frame, glass-cushioning gasket, high-strength steel support structure, and ½" tempered glass featuring a fire-impregnated bright white border and shooter’s square, all backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty. All Bison competition glass backboards are factory pre-drilled for quick installation of original DuraSkin backboard padding.

This model is designed primarily as a replacement for damaged 48" backboards mounted on fan-style wall or ceiling support systems with the common 35" x 20" pattern found in older gymnasiums. When replacing fan-style steel or glass backboards at both ends of a court, Bison recommends the BA42XLC short backboard as an alternative.

Caution: Research indicates that 42" x 72" glass backboards reduce the likelihood of player injury from backboard contact. Models BA42XL and BA42XLC are recommended for all new installations and fan-to-rectangle conversions. The 48" x 72" backboard is offered exclusively for replacement applications.
