The Rae Crowther 2-Man Buckee Sled is built to train the "long and square" style of offensive line play, named for the Buck Board technique it's designed to counter. Its rotating H1 pads are built with real shoulder pads and a jersey over a mechanism that twists when struck on the outside shoulder, mimicking the shoulder disruption a defensive lineman feels when he's beaten to the play side. A shock built into the base of each pad adds resistance, forcing the blocker to lock out his arms on contact, and the pad automatically resets to its forward-facing position after every rep.

In practice, an offensive lineman uses the Buckee technique to attack the play-side shoulder tip of a defender as he crosses the line of scrimmage, creating the shoulder disruption needed to overtake him with the feet planted and arms locked. Both the blocker and coach get instant feedback — if the pad doesn't rotate and snap back to its home position, the technique wasn't executed correctly. Because the sled resets on its own, coaches can run through reps quickly without adjusting it between players.

The pads can also be locked in place to use the Buckee as a traditional 2-man sled, and the sled works well for drilling a base block with a torque finish, aggressive pass sets, and up-kick or up-post technique. Pads are available in multiple colors.

Yes, the h1 pads can be locked in place to use the buckee sled as a traditional 2-man sled.
How do coaches know if the technique was done correctly?
