Unique Baseball Machine

The Hack Attack pitching machine features a distinctive three-wheel design that allows hitters to clearly track the ball throughout the entire process—from feeding, through acceleration, to release—closely simulating the experience of facing a live pitcher.

Because of this design, hitters can recognize the proper moment to stride and observe the release angle, helping them develop realistic timing and pitch recognition. By simply adjusting the Hack Attack’s control dials, operators can quickly deliver professional-level fastballs as well as right- and left-handed breaking pitches such as curveballs, sliders, and split-finger pitches.

This unique three-wheel system changes the break and trajectory of pitches by adjusting the speed of the wheels. In contrast, two-wheel pitching machines typically require time-consuming adjustments to the throwing head in order to switch from fastballs to curveballs or to change between right- and left-handed breaking pitches.

The Hack Attack also includes an elevation adjustment handle that allows the operator to easily raise or lower pitch height. With a simple turn, the pitch can be moved up or down within the strike zone between throws. On many two-wheel machines, similar adjustments require unlocking the throwing head, manually tilting the entire unit, and then locking it back into position, making the process slower and more cumbersome.

Hack Attack Pitching Machine

The Hack Attack pitching machine features an inside/outside adjustment that allows for precise, immediate changes to ball placement at the plate. This function enables the operator to center the first pitch without repositioning the entire machine, eliminating the need to shift or “kick” the back leg. With a simple turn of a handle, the pitch can be moved slightly inside or outside. When combined with the elevation control, this adjustment allows the operator to quickly place pitches anywhere within the strike zone between throws.

The throwing head can pivot instantly in any direction, making the machine useful for a wide range of fielding drills. It can produce deep fly balls to the outfield fence, slicing line drives, catcher’s pop-ups with reverse spin, high infield pop-ups, and ground balls.

Designed to improve efficiency during practice, the machine requires minimal adjustments to the throwing head and has a very short recovery time between pitches. This allows coaches to deliver more strikes and maximize training time.

Transporting the Hack Attack is simple. The machine can be tilted, the legs removed from their sockets, and the unit rolled easily on two heavy-duty transport wheels that are separate from the throwing wheels.

Front wheel guards prevent the throwing wheels from touching the ground during transport. This design avoids the buildup of dirt or gravel on the wheels, which can cause wear and reduce pitching accuracy on machines that move using their throwing wheels.

The Hack Attack is compatible with regulation leather baseballs, dimpled practice balls, Wiffle® balls, and other softer practice balls. Synthetic leather balls are not recommended because they wear quickly and can leave residue on the wheels.

No assembly is necessary, as the machine is delivered fully assembled and ready for immediate use.

Exceptional Pitching Machine Quality

The Hack Attack pitching machine is built with enough weight to absorb recoil and maintain accuracy while still being portable enough for a single person to move. Its wide tripod base provides excellent stability and safety on pitching mounds and other baseball playing surfaces.

The throwing head is made from high-tensile, heat-treated alloy aluminum casting that protects the pitching mechanism. A durable powder-coated steel frame resists rust and is designed for long-term use across many seasons.

The machine’s throwing wheels are engineered to outlast those found on other pitching machines and are resistant to melting or damage in extreme summer heat. Sports Attack reports that they have never had to replace a wheel due to wear or heat exposure.

Powering the system are three variable-speed motors that drive three highly durable concave 14-inch throwing wheels.

What is the weight of the hack attack broken down?
Without the legs, the hack attack weighs approximately 145 lbs including the base. with the legs attached, it weighs about 160 lbs. the base is the part with the rolling wheels that accepts the three legs.
What is the size of the hack attack broken down?
With the base attached, the dimensions are approximately 39" long x 30" wide x 25" tall. without the base, the machine measures approximately 30" long x 30" wide x 25" tall.
What type of assembly is necessary when i first receive my hack attack and are special tools required?
No assembly is required. the hack attack arrives fully assembled and ready to use immediately. no special tools are needed.
How is the hack attack most commonly transported?
Most users transport the machine with the base and legs removed. two people can easily lift the machine into a truck or suv. the base can also be removed if additional height clearance is needed.
How is the hack attack moved around the baseball field?
The machine includes large rolling wheels that allow it to be easily moved on and off the field. unlike other machines that roll on their throwing wheels, the hack attack protects its throwing wheels from contact with the ground to maintain pitch performance.
What type of balls can the hack attack throw?
The hack attack throws 9" regulation baseballs including full grain leather baseballs, pitching machine leather balls, polyurethane pitching machine balls, whiffle balls, and foam balls. synthetic leather balls should never be used as they wear quickly and can leave buildup on the throwing wheels.
What is the ball release height and will it fit an l-screen cutout?
The standard ball release point is 52 inches, which fits standard l-shaped protective screens. with optional extended legs, the release point increases to 73 inches.
How accurate is the hack attack?
The hack attack uses a unique three-wheel design that grips the ball in three locations instead of two, providing exceptional accuracy and control.
What are the operating amps for the hack attack?
The machine draws approximately 1.5 amps during operation. a 20-amp electrical service is recommended for continuous use.
What extension cord should be used with the machine?
A minimum #14/3 grounded extension cord can be used up to 200 feet. longer cords should be evaluated by a licensed electrician.
Why is there no battery-powered version of the hack attack?
Battery-powered machines typically have slower recovery times and decreasing power levels that affect pitch consistency. batteries also require charging and can be costly to replace, which is why generator use is recommended instead.
Can the hack attack run on a generator?
Yes. the generator must produce clean electricity. a honda inverter generator rated between 1000w and 2000w is recommended.
What happens if a generator without clean power is used?
Generators that do not produce clean electricity can cause power surges, leading to inconsistent pitch speeds and erratic machine performance.
What is the speed range of the hack attack?
The hack attack can deliver pitches from approximately 35 mph up to 100 mph.
What types of pitches can the hack attack throw?
The machine can throw fastballs, curveballs, sliders, sinkers, and many other breaking pitches by adjusting wheel speeds rather than tilting the machine head.
How do you change speed or pitch type on the machine?
Pitch type and speed are adjusted by changing the relative speeds of the three throwing wheels. a pitch chart is included on the machine for reference.
How do you adjust pitch elevation?
An elevation adjustment handle raises or lowers the pitch approximately 4 to 6 inches per rotation depending on ball speed.
What is the recovery time between pitches?
Recovery time is approximately 3 to 5 seconds and is nearly instantaneous due to the three-wheel design.
What are the advantages of a three-wheel pitching machine?
Three-wheel machines maintain ball visibility for the batter, provide superior accuracy, and reduce wear on both balls and throwing wheels.
Why are sports attack pitching machine wheels high quality?
They use a solid design with no air pressure considerations and are built with high-quality components. throwing wheels rarely need replacement due to wear, weather, or heat.
What happens if a ball is hit back into the machine?
The hack attack is extremely durable and includes both front and rear guards that protect the throwing wheels from impact.
Why is a heavier pitching machine beneficial?
Greater mass absorbs recoil, resulting in higher accuracy and stability. the weight distribution also improves portability and balance during transport.
